Sensor Logs Collection Guide
To collect logs from GYTPOL sensors for troubleshooting or analysis, follow the steps below depending on the device operating system:
Log File Locations
Windows:
C:\Program Files\WindowsPowerShell\Modules\gytpol\log
Linux & macOS:
/opt/gytpol/logs
What the Logs Contain
GYTPOL sensor logs provide detailed insights into the sensor's activity on the device, including:
Scanning events
Remediation actions
Reverts of non-compliant settings
Errors or issues preventing successful operation
Communication problems blocking data transmission to the GYTPOL console (both SaaS and Self-Hosted)
Sensor upgrade failures
These logs are critical for diagnosing issues related to visibility, enforcement, and sensor-to-console connectivity.
Collecting Logs from the GYTPOL Console (UI Method)
If the sensor is successfully reporting to the console:
Use the Global Search to locate the device.
Open the Generic Action menu.
Select Request Sensor Log.
This method works only if the sensor is actively communicating with the console.
Manual Log Collection (Non-Reporting Sensors)
If the sensor is not reporting, use one of the following access methods to retrieve logs manually:
Remote Desktop (RDP)
SSH / Terminal / Console Access
File Share / Network Access
Navigate to the appropriate folder based on the operating system and collect the log files for review or support.
Sharing Logs with GYTPOL Support
To share sensor logs with GYTPOL Support, please send them to support@gytpol.com.
Ensure the entire logs folder is zipped before sending.
On Linux and macOS, include all log files, including the service logs and any other files present in the log directory.
If additional information is needed, you may be asked to provide the full archive folder, as outlined in the following guide: Archive folder - Advanced troubleshooting
