Server Install User Guide for On-Premises Deployment of GYTPOL
Once the server has been prepared in accordance with the System Requirements document, follow the steps outlined below to install the GYTPOL Application server.
If you haven't yet prepared the server, please refer to the document provided here: System Requirements.
Download the server and Sensor files sent to you by the GYTPOL team and place them on the GYTPOL server you've created.
Open the Local Group Policy Editor on the server by navigating to gpedit.msc:
Go to Computer Configuration > Windows Settings > Security Settings > Local Policies > User Rights Assignment.
Ensure that the GYTPOL app user is part of the "Log on as a batch job" and "Log on as a service" privileges. If the GYTPOL app user is not included in these privileges, please add the user to both.
Launch the Command Prompt (CMD) and enter the following command:
ping _gytpol
Review the results; it should reply with the Fully Qualified Domain Name (FQDN) of the GYTPOL servers. Ensure that the FQDN provided is accurate. If there are any discrepancies or issues, please investigate and rectify as needed to ensure the correct functioning of GYTPOL servers.
Before proceeding with the server installation, it's essential to install the GYTPOL Sensor on the server. Follow the steps below:
Extract the GYTPOL Sensor zip file to a location on the server.
Open an elevated Command Prompt (CMD) by running it as an Administrator.
Navigate to the location where you extracted the GYTPOL Sensor files using the 'cd' command. For example:
cd path\to\extracted\GYTPOL-Sensor
Run the installation by executing the Sensor MSI file.
Allow the installation process to complete. Once finished, the progress window will disappear.
GYTPOL Server Installation:
Locate the GYTPOL server installation .exe file on your server.
Right-click on the server installation .exe file.
From the context menu, select "Run as Administrator."
After reviewing the End User License Agreement (EULA) and when you are ready to proceed with the installation, follow these steps:
Read the End User License Agreement (EULA) thoroughly.
Once you have reviewed the agreement and agree to its terms, check the box that says "I agree to the terms…"
After checking the box, proceed by clicking on the "Install" button.
For Proof of Concepts (POCs) and deployments with up to 3000 endpoints (servers and computers), follow these steps:
During the installation process, when prompted to select the installation type, choose "Typical."
After selecting "Typical," proceed by clicking on the "Continue" button.
When prompted for GYTPOL user credentials during the installation process, follow these steps:
In the "Username" field, type:
<YOURDOMAIN\GYTPOLUSER>
(Replace<YOURDOMAIN>
with the actual domain). In the "Password" field, enter the corresponding password for the GYTPOL user.
After entering the credentials, proceed by clicking on the "Continue" button.
After completing the GYTPOL Server installation, simply click "Close" to exit the installation wizard.
In the upcoming steps, we'll verify that the installation was successful without encountering any issues or errors.
Open Task Scheduler and confirm the presence of the following tasks: GytpolServer, GytpolServerDaily, GytpolServerWeekly. Ensure that at least one of these tasks is currently running.
Navigate to c:\gytpol\data\GPMCProxy\config\dcs.json
and verify that the Domain Controllers listed in the file are situated in the Main Site of your Active Directory and belong to the same domain as your GYTPOL server.
Note: We recommend opening the JSON files using Notepad++ for better readability and ease of editing.
In the provided example, there are only two Domain Controllers located in the Main Site, and both are displayed in the JSON file.
Note: If there are any modifications to the JSON file, such as adding or removing Domain Controllers, ensure that the file maintains the Comma Delimiter format, similar to the example provided.

After making any changes, open System Services and restart the following GYTPOL services: GPMCPROXY service, GYTPOL Data Repository service, and GYTPOL Validator service.
Verify that all GYTPOL services are active and running. Ensure that the GPMC PROXY service is running using the GYTPOL user credentials for Group Policy Modeling.
Access Default Apps on the server and designate Google Chrome (preferably version 100 and above, though the latest version is recommended) or the new Edge as the default web browser.
Double-click the gytpol Validator link on your desktop to access the dashboard. Upon opening, you will be prompted for the License.
Click on "Generate ID" and complete the form with your details.
Ensure that all required information is accurately filled out to facilitate the license generation process.
After clicking "Generate," a key file will be automatically downloaded.
Please send the downloaded key file to license@gytpol.com. Once processed, the GYTPOL license team will send you a new key file. Save this file on the GYTPOL server.
Next, open the gytpol Validator UI from the desktop link and click on "Upload License". Navigate to the key file received from the GYTPOL license team and upload it to the server.
Congratulations! You are now ready to proceed. We can move on to the Sensor installation and deployment.
